Karsov is disciplined, martial, and duty-bound. Its people value endurance, strength, loyalty, and self sacrifice. They see themselves as the shield of the entire region.
Religion
Karsov has no official state religion and does not define itself through faith. Unlike Ordan, however, it is not anti-religion; personal and organized religions are generally tolerated as long as they do not threaten order.
Government
A stratocracy shaped by its permanent defensive role at the north-western opening. Civil life, politics, industry, and education are all influenced by the need to maintain a solid defense.
Relations
Karsov is not loved by everyone, but it is widely respected. Many people across the region are grateful for Karsov's protection, even if they find Karsovian culture rigid, severe, or overbearing.
Ordan
Relation: Respectful
Karsov sees Ordan as necessary to regional stability and commerce. It may consider Ordan soft or overly bureaucratic, but it understands how important Ordan is to the survival of the region and values their reliability.
1908 — The Karsngrad Bridge Collapse
During a festival season, a bridge collapse in Karsngrad trapped hundreds of travelers
from multiple nations. Karsovian engineers and Ordanian officials
worked together for many days pulling survivors from the river.
Besa
Relation: Neutral
Karsov sees Besa as simple natured, rural, and harmless. It has little patience for their superstition but appreciates their gentile and generous nature.
1929 — The Children of Grey Pass
After an avalanche cut off a Karsovian mountain settlement, Besa accepted dozens of
evacuated Karsovian children for the winter. Many of those children later returned to
Karsov with lifelong affection for Besian families.
Thalor
Relation: Good
Karsov respects Thalor for their strong naval advancments but distrusts their mysticism and supersticious nature. Thalor's ports and sailors are seen as a valuable asset for defending the sea-facing borders.
Strigavia
Relation: Uneasy
Karsov treats Strigavia with caution because of their corrupt dynastic system that keeps power exclusively withing their ancient aristocratic families. It does not consider Strigavia a threat, but frowns upon their occult practices.
Valdoro
Relation: Respectful
Karsov respects Valdoro's honor and dependability, considering them to be great humanitarians. They disapprove of their theocratic systems.
1896 — The Night of the Broken Gate
An invading force from beyond the north-western opening breached the outer defenses of
Karsov. Valdoro sent reinforcement to hold the line while Karsovian forces regrouped.
Karsov remembers and honors the sacrifices of Valdorians that fought alongside them that night.
